HOUSE STYLES

House styles refer to the layout and structure magazine follow to ensure a specific style

-House styles are utilized by majority of magazines within the industry to attain a specific look for each one.
- House style guides essentially lay out rules and criteria regarding editing conventions followed by writers and editors . These include, capitalization, abbreviations, numbers, date formats, spelling and citation.
-  This practice is effective as it allows the reader to identify the genre of the magazine prior to reading it

      Genre Purpose, Target Audience, Distribution     The purpose of a magazine is one of the greatest determining factors that influences its contents. Content is the information that magazines provide to their audience.     -  Whether the purpose of the magazine is to entertain, persuade, or inform is what determines the information that will be presented to the argument.  ex: a magazine with the purpose of informing the audience on current news while provide information on what is going on in the world today.              The target audience of a magazine also influences its content. Practice Feature Lead

      In this blog, I will be practicing and assessing my ability to write my own practice lead as I will have to create one for my own magazine. Given the story below:    " The police in this municipality received a call at 3:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon. A woman shouted at the sergeant who answered the telephone. She said: "My son's been beaten. His teacher whipped him this afternoon, and he's all red where she paddled him. Can teachers do that? That's assault and battery, and I want her arrested."
