Revamping My Practice Cover Page

Image
After receiving feedback and evaluating my initial preliminary cover page, I decided to go back and reattempt my cover page with the new corrections. I replaced the first photo with a new shot I captured of Model #2 and I love it. I have placed the new image below:

Preliminary Practice Cover Feedback

In my previous blog post, I showed you guys my first attempt of creating my magazine cover. Since then, I have learned what works and what needs to be tweaked. For instance, I am now aware that I must provide my own pictures so I am now planning on gathering models and taking the necessary shots. In addition, I will also make sure I continue to pay attention to detail such as, font, font size, color, placement, etc. The original font colors I chose did not stand out against my cover photo. Next time, I will make sure that the new photo I choose works with the font color and size. In the meantime, I will utilize the canvas program in order to work on more practice covers until I create one to my liking.

Practice Cover Page

Hey guys! Below is my first attempt at creating my magazine cover.

Preliminary Task

For my first preliminary assignment,  I will be using the  "Canva" platform to construct a practice cover page. Through this task, I plan to: Practice my editing skills Use an eye-catching color scheme that fits the content Focus on bold fonts and lettering, similar to those in other music magazines  Select photos and a page set up that will allow me to display my information in an efficient yet stylish way  Become more comfortable working the 'Canva' platform so I can utilize its tools to the best of my ability for the remainder of this project. After making the practice cover page, I will review the process and my results in the next blog post .

Planning Preliminary Tasks

Before completing my final magazine, I will be completing preliminary tasks as a way to practice and perfect the components that will go into my project. The goal of these preliminary tasks  is to serve as a rough draft, allowing me to weed out any discrepancies before completing the final product. These tasks will include things such as: Creating a preliminary cover page Crea ting a preliminary table of contents Creating a preliminary double page spread Creating a practice feature story. After each task, I will evaluate and analyze what I can learn and improve for my final product.

Magazine Research

In the process of constructing my own magazine, I decided to research and analyze different music magazines. Not only will this research help me gain knowledge on the project but it will also allow me to brainstorm ideas for my own magazine.  Firstly I thought about what in the music industry my magazine should be focused on, and after taking my survey results into account I plan to highlight current news and accomplishments being made in the African American community within the music industry. I decided on the name "Music Essentials", as I believe it fits the content. In addition,  I have begun to plan out what kind of "look" I want my magazine to fall under. Taking into consideration all the information I have acquired, I will make sure to incorporate all I have learned when putting my final magazine together.
