Rules and Conventions of Magazines
Conventions refer to the way in which something is usually done, especially within a particular area or activity. They tend to differ depending on the area or activity. Magazines have their own set of coventions.
Cover Page:
- The front cover of a magazine must contain good visuals, layouts, and designs. Often, a large picture captured something interesting ( a celebrity or event) is used to catch the attention of the reader.
- bright colors and bold letters are also used to help achieve this.
- Usually the first series of pages within the magazine
- Gives readers an overview of what the magazine contains through the use of an index, summary, or both.
- Help the reader navigate through the magazine.
- This is where majority of the content comes from
- Titles are often in bold and bright letters
- Titles are also constructed into an attention catching phrase either including humor, suspense,etc.
- Several subheadings are used to help give the readers a quick overview further gaining their interest
- Articles are pertaining to the overall genre of the magazine
